Right present, Carlos Yulo is facing difficulties. The 24-year-old is, on the one hand, soaking up the historical significance of his most recent Olympic triumph. However, because of his mother’s management of his financial affairs, he finds himself caught in the crossfire with his family. Ultimately, though, even the nation’s first-ever male Olympic gold medallist finds it difficult to avoid thinking about his family.
The Philippines intends to send a male gymnastics team to the next Olympic Games in recognition of his impressive performance in Paris. In the upcoming days, Yulo naturally wants his country to shine brightly on the biggest stage possible. He also has some advice for the budding gymnasts from the archipelago, including his own younger brother.

On September 1, Yulo had a conversation with Rappler on how it can take a lot of time to succeed at the top levels of a sport. During the same interview, the Olympian gave his brother Eldrew advice on how to keep focused on his objectives in spite of obstacles that may arise. Yulo stressed that in order for his younger sibling to attain the pinnacle of his physical prowess, they would both need to go through the same demanding process. “[Eldrew] will find stuff in training,” the two-time gold medallist at the Olympics stated, adding a few more points.

Carlos warned his brother, “…it is hard to prepare and the process will take some time, just like what I went through,” emphasising the necessity of persevering through difficult times. It’s interesting to note that Eldrew and Carlos were the same age when Carlos left home to pursue his gymnastics goals in Japan. In light of this, admirers may worry if this portends that Angelica Yulo is about to experience yet another heartbreak.
The controversy surrounding the Yulo family has stunned the gymnastics community in recent days. Following the presentation of his golden hardware, Carlos revealed something shocking. He said that because his mother Angelica handled his bank accounts improperly, he suffered large financial losses. In addition to the rewards, my mother had access to my bank account and my monthly gymnastics money. Yulo dropped the bomb, leaving admirers understandably perplexed. “When I eventually took control of that bank account, I discovered out she had been depleting it,” Yulo said. The gymnast’s mother and previous manager, however, responded to the allegations right away.
“I was handed it. I was worried that my child would run out of money because I’m a mother,” Angelica said to Bombo Radyo. Since then, the unrest has only gotten worse, and Chavit Singson, a Filipino business magnate, has intervened to help the family through their hardships. Do you believe Carlos Yulo can still be his younger brother’s mentor in the midst of all this? Or will the teenager’s hopes be dashed by the profound divide between their mother and the Olympian?
