Conor McGregor Launches Fresh Attack on Floyd Mayweather Days After Government Approves His New Business Venture

The Mayweather vs. McGregor Rivalry Rekindled by TIDL’s Success

Remember “The Money Fight”? The iconic clash between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and UFC star Conor McGregor took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on August 26, 2017. That night wasn’t just about punches—it was a symbolic collision between two combat sports worlds. Mayweather left the ring with a perfect 50-0 record, while McGregor, despite the loss, earned widespread respect for stepping out of the MMA cage and into the boxing spotlight.

Now, several years after the event, McGregor appears to be reigniting that famous rivalry—but not through fists this time. Instead, he’s making moves in the business world.

Recently, McGregor and his brand TIDL Sport posted a striking image generated by AI. In the image, McGregor holds a can of TIDL’s latest product, standing tall over a massive crowd. Among the sea of faces, one person stood out—someone sporting a “TMT” shirt, which stands for “The Money Team,” Floyd Mayweather’s well-known brand. This subtle but intentional detail raised eyebrows, leading many to speculate whether McGregor was sending a not-so-hidden message to his old rival.

Why would McGregor bring up Mayweather now, long after their fight? The answer may lie in a major business milestone: TIDL Sport recently secured a spot on the Federal Supply Schedule, effectively landing a government contract. To celebrate the achievement, McGregor shared the news with a simple but confident reaction: “Excellent.”

While Mayweather has not directly responded to the post, his past statements reveal he hasn’t entirely forgotten the rivalry. Years ago, after their blockbuster match, he addressed McGregor in various social media posts. Notably, in one 2018 post, Mayweather claimed that McGregor was a better opponent than Canelo Alvarez—despite having also dominated Alvarez in the ring.

Their 2017 bout was structured as a 12-round boxing match, much longer than the average MMA fight. McGregor impressed early on with a few clean shots, but as the rounds progressed, his stamina waned. Mayweather capitalized on this, ultimately winning by TKO in the 10th round. Despite the defeat, McGregor walked away with an estimated $130 million. Mayweather, true to his nickname, reportedly earned around $280 million.

Mayweather later dismissed the bout as easy money. In a since-deleted Instagram post, he boasted that beating McGregor—and Alvarez—wasn’t much of a challenge. He wrote that he could earn over $300 million in a single night, a feat others might never match in an entire career.

Today, while Mayweather seems to have moved on, McGregor’s recent business ventures suggest he hasn’t entirely closed the chapter. Whether the appearance of a TMT shirt in his promotional material was a calculated jab or just a coincidence, it has certainly reignited speculation.

Could McGregor’s resurgence in the business world breathe new life into his rivalry with Mayweather? Or is it just clever marketing wrapped in nostalgia? The debate continues.
