Spieth’s Self-Belief Ignites Title Hopes
Jordan Spieth isn’t backing down. Despite recent scrutiny over sponsor exemptions and missing the cut at the PGA Championship, the former World No. 1 has declared he’s ready to challenge the dominance of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. With his wrist finally healed and confidence restored, Spieth believes his best golf is ahead of him.
“I’m Young Enough, I’m Healthy Enough”
Appearing on *5 Clubs*, Spieth emphasized that he still has time on his side. “I’m young enough to do so, I’m now healthy enough to feel like I can,” he said. The 31-year-old has been recovering from a lingering wrist injury since 2023 and says the pain is now “less and less.” With a renewed sense of freedom in his swing, he’s targeting a long-term climb back to the top.
A Wake-Up Call From Scheffler
Watching Scottie Scheffler dominate at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where Spieth’s final-round 62 still left him 12 shots behind, was a humbling experience. “It makes me want to work harder,” Spieth admitted. “I was definitely better than him not too long ago, and now I’m definitely not.”
Grand Slam Still on His Radar
Spieth’s eyes remain fixed on the elusive career Grand Slam. With wins at the Masters (2015), U.S. Open (2015), and Open Championship (2017), only the PGA Championship remains. Inspired by McIlroy finally completing his own slam, Spieth says, “If I could only win one tournament for the rest of my life, I’d pick this one.”
Exemptions and Expectations
His recent sponsor exemptions into five signature events have sparked debate—especially with others ranked higher missing out. But Spieth, currently ranked 51st, knows he has to prove himself again. “I want to get out and do as much prep as I can to feel like I can win week to week.”
Long Game Mentality
With a 10-to-15-year plan in mind, Spieth is taking the long view. “I know it’s going to be a long process,” he says, but with health, motivation, and a championship resume on his side, he’s determined to rise again. The world may have moved on, but Jordan Spieth’s comeback narrative is far from over.
