Sha’Carri Richardson Steps Into New Role to Transform Women’s Track and Field
Time never slows down, but Sha’Carri Richardson is determined to reshape the future of track and field. Known for her electrifying presence on the track and powerful voice off it, the American sprint sensation has entered a bold new phase in her career—one that reaches beyond gold medals and Olympic accolades. Now, she’s partnered with ATHLOS, a revolutionary new venture aimed at changing how female athletes are supported and represented in sports.
ATHLOS, created by Alexis Ohanian, was launched to tackle the financial challenges that often hinder women in athletics. It first gained attention when Olympian Gabby Thomas became its inaugural athlete ambassador. Now, with its second season approaching, the focus has shifted to Sha’Carri Richardson, who brings her signature fire and authenticity to the forefront.
“My vision for track and field going forward is to leave the lanes full of creativity.”

In a video shared on social media, Richardson expressed her excitement for the 2025 season, stating she’s ready to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible. More than just continuing her journey as a sprinter, she sees this moment as a responsibility—to lead meaningful change in the sport she loves. For her, ATHLOS represents more than a brand; it’s a movement to uplift athletes and rewrite the rulebook.
Sha’Carri emphasized that her motivation stems from inspiring the next generation. She hopes to show young athletes that they can break barriers and expectations, not just records. Every race she runs now carries added meaning, combining her personal growth with a mission to elevate others.
ATHLOS is not just about participation—it’s about ownership. Richardson joins fellow elite athletes Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis-Woodhall as founding owner-advisors of the league. This role gives them actual equity and influence, allowing them to shape the direction and culture of ATHLOS from the ground up.
According to the league’s founder, bringing these athletes on board from the beginning ensures that the league stays true to what competitors really want. Richardson, in particular, has been actively involved in decision-making and planning, proving her investment goes far deeper than a name on a roster.
While the full-scale launch of ATHLOS is scheduled for after the current World Athletics season, the league is already making an impact. Its inaugural event in New York brought together 35 athletes and offered a $500,000 prize pool, with a portion going back to participants—showcasing its athlete-first model. Another major event is set to take place in October at Icahn Stadium.
As she continues her journey as both a competitor and an owner, Sha’Carri Richardson is setting a new standard. Rather than waiting for change, she’s actively creating it—ensuring a more inclusive, empowered future for women in track and field. Her vision is clear: a sport defined not by limitations, but by creativity, individuality, and community.
