“Diver Finds 6-Inch Megalodon Tooth Off Florida Coast—Experts Call It ‘Museum Quality’”

A Legendary Beast Resurfaces in the Modern World
A routine dive off the Gulf Coast of Florida turned into a historic moment when Kristina Scott discovered a massive six-inch Megalodon tooth buried beneath the seafloor. Believed to be between 3.6 and 23 million years old, the tooth dates back to the early Miocene and Pliocene epochs.

“I Knew the Shape Right Away”
Scott, diving near Venice in Sarasota County, noticed just the barnacle-covered root sticking out. “I pulled it out of the dirt and started freaking out,” she recalled. With her regulator still in her mouth, she tried to shout, grabbing her boyfriend’s arm in shock.

The Megalodon: Ocean’s Greatest Predator
According to the Smithsonian, Carcharocles megalodon ruled the seas as the largest shark ever recorded—up to three times the size of a modern great white. With teeth the size of a human hand, its bite could rip through even the largest prehistoric whales.

Experts Say This Is a Once-in-a-Million Find
Fossil hunters spend years hoping to come across something this rare. One broadcaster called it “like winning the lottery.” The quality of the tooth places it in the “museum tier,” thanks to its size, condition, and age.

Still No Word on Its Value
While no price has been placed on the tooth yet, experts believe it could be highly valuable. But for Kristina Scott, the joy of discovery may be worth more than any price tag.
