Max Homa’s Struggles Continue Amid Disappointing 2025 PGA Tour Season
Max Homa, a six-time PGA Tour champion, has faced significant challenges throughout the 2025 season. Once considered one of the Tour’s most consistent performers, Homa has yet to find his rhythm this year, enduring five straight missed cuts and failing to secure a single win.
Homa’s last victory dates back to January 2023, when he claimed the title at the Farmers Insurance Open. Despite his efforts, he remains without a major championship win. His best finish this season came at the Masters Tournament held at Augusta National, where he tied for 12th after posting a 4-under 284 score. That performance offered a glimmer of hope, but it proved to be short-lived.
During a segment called the “struggle bus” on the show Dan on Golf, golf analyst Dan Rapaport discussed Homa’s ongoing slump. He noted that while Homa’s Masters showing seemed promising, it lacked the consistency needed for long-term success. Rapaport added that Homa drew attention at the U.S. Open for nearly qualifying while carrying his own bag, but even the golfer himself admitted that his Masters performance didn’t feel particularly solid or sustainable.
Homa’s form has further declined in recent weeks. He missed the cut at the RBC Canadian Open and finished tied for 54th out of 72 players at the Travelers Championship. His current FedEx Cup ranking is 116th, putting him in danger of missing the playoffs, which only admit the top 100 players. Additionally, he has drifted far from the conversation for a potential Ryder Cup selection.
This season, Homa has also failed to make the cut at several other notable events, including the WM Phoenix Open, Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship, and Valero Texas Open. His next-best finish outside of the Masters came at the Sentry Tournament, where he tied for 26th.
The Travelers Championship marked Homa’s 15th start of the year. He opened the tournament at TPC River Highlands with a score of 68, carding four birdies and two bogeys. However, he followed that with a second-round 71, and continued to slip during the weekend. On Saturday, Homa recorded three bogeys and two birdies. His final round included four bogeys and two birdies, leaving him with a total score of 2-over 282. He ultimately finished tied for 54th alongside Ryan Gerard and Akshay Bhatia, as Keegan Bradley secured the win with a dominant 15-under 265 performance.
Homa wasn’t the only golfer featured in Rapaport’s list of underperformers this season. Others who made the “struggle bus” include Min Woo Lee, despite winning his first PGA Tour title this year, as well as Ludvig Aberg, Tom Kim, and Nick Dunlap.
As the season progresses, questions remain about whether Max Homa can recover his form and make a late push to salvage what has so far been a challenging year.
