The 38-year-old former F1 champion stepped away from the sport at the end of the 2022 season but has stayed connected to motorsports through various roles and appearances. In a recent interview with *Auto Motor und Sport*, Vettel ruled out ever racing in Formula 1 again, stating:
> “Formula 1 is finished for me. At some point, the time is right to leave the field to others.”
He expressed support for the sport’s new generation of drivers, adding that younger talents deserve opportunities, just as he did in his early career.
However, Vettel revealed that the **World Endurance Championship (WEC)** is an appealing possibility. He admitted that endurance racing hadn’t interested him much during his F1 career, where driving solo and maximizing individual performance were the norm. Now, he sees value in the team-driven nature of the WEC, where drivers share cars and must collaborate closely.
> “I find it incredibly exciting — this team structure, sharing a car, and making compromises. In addition, the WEC does not take up the entire year like Formula 1.”
Vettel’s career includes four Formula 1 world titles with Red Bull Racing from 2010 to 2013. If he chooses to pursue the WEC route, he would follow in the footsteps of fellow former F1 champion Jenson Button, who now races with the Jota Cadillac team in endurance events.

**Talks With Red Bull About a Non-Racing Role**
Although Vettel is not considering an F1 comeback as a driver, he has been linked to a return to Red Bull Racing in a different capacity. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is expected to retire soon, and Vettel has been mentioned as a possible successor.
In a podcast appearance with ORF, Vettel confirmed that he remains in regular contact with Marko and acknowledged there have been discussions, though nothing concrete has materialized.
> “There have been a few headlines now. I still get on very well with Helmut, and we are also in exchange on the topic.”
> “These talks are not yet so intense and in-depth, but it may be something where I can play a role — in what form, it will show.”
Red Bull Racing is currently undergoing major leadership changes, including the recent departure of several top executives. Whether Vettel will play a role in shaping the team’s future remains uncertain, but his willingness to stay involved in motorsports — on or off the track — seems stronger than ever.
