Flying Fijians eye big 2025 Test calendar

Flying Fijians Eye Tier 1 Clashes in Jam-Packed 2025 Test Calendar

The Flying Fijians are set for a thrilling international rugby season in 2025, with high-stakes fixtures lined up across the Pacific Nations Cup and a blockbuster November Test window featuring Tier 1 powerhouses England and France.

Fiji’s current Test lineup includes confirmed matches against Tonga and Samoa in the Pacific Nations Cup (PNC), with the potential to progress to the semi-finals and final depending on results. While those knockout-stage fixtures are yet to be confirmed, the squad is assured of at least one more game beyond their initial PNC clashes.

The campaign began with a narrow loss to the Wallabies, but the Fijians showed strong form and promise. Securing a win from either of their next two matches—especially against regional rivals—would keep them firmly in contention.

A major highlight of Fiji’s calendar is the November international window, where the full-strength squad, including European-based stars, is expected to be available for headline matches against England, France, and Spain.

However, scheduling remains a concern. There is still no official word on whether the PNC will fall within World Rugby’s designated Test window. If it does not, Fiji may be forced to play without several France-based players due to Top 14 and Pro D2 club commitments, which resume in early September.

Should that happen, the responsibility will shift to homegrown and regional talent—especially players from Fijian Drua and Japan League One—to carry the team through the PNC stages.
