Simone Biles Skips U.S. Classic and Xfinity Championships for Luxurious Getaway With Friends
Simone Biles may not have competed at the 2025 U.S. Classic, but she was still present—quietly supporting her former training partner, Joscelyn Roberson, from the sidelines. Though she kept a low profile, Biles was spotted near the balance beam and in the lower-level suites during the event held in Illinois. Roberson revealed that Biles made the trip after she personally asked her to be there, to which Biles replied, “If you really want me there, I’ll be there.”
Biles, who won the U.S. Classic last year with a score of 59.500, sat out this time—just like fellow gymnast Jordan Chiles. Their absence made way for junior champion Claire Pease to steal the spotlight, finishing ahead of Simone Rose and Roberson. Soon after the event, Biles returned to Texas and shared a casual story from a local bar and grill. But just a day later, she dropped a bigger update—showing off three passports with the caption: “& we’re off…”
This signaled another vacation, and this time it was the British Virgin Islands. In her Instagram stories, Biles revealed her location with ocean views, welcome drinks, and luxurious accommodations. She is staying aboard a Tanna 47 yacht, which she called “home for the week 😍😍😍.” Unlike her Belize trip with husband Jonathan Owens, this adventure is a girls-only getaway.
Among her travel companions are Torrie Brown—retired volleyball player and wife of NFL veteran Marcedes Lewis—and a close friend named Ocius. Biles had previously hinted at this trip back in June, joking on Instagram, “The only aisle I’m looking forward to this summer ✈️🤣,” and tagging the same girls.
Meanwhile, Jordan Chiles is enjoying her own sea escape. Around the same time, she posted a clip from a moving boat with the caption, “My life for a few days!!” followed by a mirror selfie captioned, “Cruise workout!!!” showing that both gymnasts are on vacation at the same time after skipping the U.S. Classic.
As for Biles’ gymnastics future, fans are facing disappointment. On July 19, she confirmed—via a video shared by Inside Gymnastics—that she won’t be participating in the upcoming 2025 Xfinity U.S. Championships. In the clip, she wished her teammates luck, saying, “Proud of you girls. Good luck at Championships.”
While Biles made history in 2023 and 2024 by securing her eighth and ninth U.S. all-around titles respectively, it appears she’s stepping back in 2025. With no gymnastics appearances this year so far—and vacations from Switzerland to South Africa to the Caribbean—many are left wondering if this is a break or the start of a farewell.
Whether this jet-setting lifestyle is a well-earned escape or a distraction from her Olympic trajectory remains open for debate. What’s certain is that Simone Biles continues to live life on her terms.
