5 big names who might fail to make the cut for Team USA’s Ryder Cup roster ft. Jordan Spieth

## **Five Big Names at Risk of Missing the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Team**

With just two weeks left until the 45th Ryder Cup rosters are finalized, the U.S. team picture is starting to take shape. The top six players in the standings will secure automatic spots after the BMW Championship, with captain Keegan Bradley set to make his picks soon after.

Scottie Scheffler is already mathematically locked in with 32,420.33 points, followed by Xander Schauffele and J.J. Spaun. Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau, and Harris English currently round out the automatic qualification spots.

That leaves several well-known names fighting to avoid missing September’s showdown in New York.

### **1. Jordan Spieth**

* **Current Position:** 27th (3,603.97 points)

* **2025 Season:** 18 events, 4 Top-10s, 8 Top-25s

* **Ryder Cup History:** Played every edition since 2014

Spieth’s T31 at the Wyndham Championship didn’t do his cause any favors. Unless he can post a big result in the final weeks, his streak of five straight Ryder Cup appearances could be over.

### **2. Max Homa**

* **Current Position:** 42nd (2,740.72 points)

* **2025 Season:** 20 events, 8 missed cuts, just 1 Top-10 finish

Homa was an automatic qualifier in 2023, but his 2025 campaign has been a struggle. His lack of consistency leaves him needing either a late-season surge or a captain’s pick.

*3. Brooks Koepka**

* **Current Position:** 76th (906.25 points)

* **2025 Season:** Average results on LIV Golf, missed cuts in three majors

Koepka has been a Ryder Cup fixture since 2016, but poor major form and a low LIV standing (29th) could keep him out this year.

*4. Rickie Fowler**

* **Current Position:** 43rd (2,486.92 points)

* **2025 Season:** 1 Top-10, 7 Top-25s

Fowler’s season has been solid but unspectacular. Without a late surge, he’s unlikely to play his way in on points and will be hoping Bradley values his experience.

**5. Billy Horschel**

* **Current Position:** 30th (3,370.78 points)

* **2025 Season:** Strong start before an injury layoff after the RBC Heritage

Horschel’s injury absence during the summer swing has hurt his momentum. Even with a decent ranking, missing key events may cost him a spot.

**Bottom Line:**

Bradley’s captain’s picks could be decisive for several of these veterans. With a new generation of U.S. talent emerging, even Ryder Cup mainstays aren’t guaranteed a ticket to Bethpage Black.
