Pulled a Switchblade”: Comedian Tom Segura Talks Surf Fight

**Tom Segura Recounts Wild Surfing Altercation Involving a Knife**

Comedian Tom Segura recently shared details of a startling incident while surfing, during an episode of the podcast “Your Mom’s House,” which he co-hosts with his wife, Christina P. Segura, who is relatively new to surfing, opened up about getting into a physical altercation in the water.

According to Segura, the fight broke out over a disputed wave. Another surfer claimed the wave was his, prompting a confrontation. Segura attempted to paddle out, but tensions escalated quickly when the man reportedly pulled a switchblade. Segura claimed the man took a swing at him, grazing his face. In response, Segura said he hit the man, who then floated in the water for a while before Segura left the scene.

His wife, shocked by the story, asked whether the man could have died. Segura responded by saying he didn’t see anything in the news afterward and noted that the man had kept the knife tucked into his shorts.

The incident highlights a broader concern that has been surfacing in the surfing community: the decline in surf etiquette and rising tensions in increasingly crowded lineups. Some professional surfers have also raised alarms over how unspoken surfing rules are being disregarded, leading to more confrontations in the water.

While the accuracy of Segura’s story could be debated—especially the switchblade detail—the experience adds to growing conversations about surf culture and safety.
