**Jannik Sinner Reacts After Fan Tries to Steal From His Bag at the US Open**
After defeating Alexander Bublik at the 2025 US Open, Jannik Sinner attempted to hand out a towel to fans as a gesture of appreciation. But what should have been a lighthearted moment turned chaotic when one spectator reached into his bag, forcing security to step in immediately.
During his post-match press conference, Sinner confirmed that it was the first time someone had ever tried to unzip his bag during a match. Concerned that something might have been stolen, he quickly checked his belongings, noting that players often carry personal items like phones and wallets in addition to rackets. Fortunately, nothing was taken thanks to the quick action of the security team.
Sinner praised their response, saying: “I feel like the security is doing a great job. Especially on court, there are lots of security, and I believe this, especially at a big tournament… amazing job… to feel us safe.” Despite the incident, he reassured everyone, adding, “It’s all fine.”
The unusual scene followed another controversy earlier in the tournament involving Kamil Majchrzak’s victory over Karen Khachanov. After the match, Majchrzak tossed a signed hat toward a young fan, only for an adult man to snatch it away. The individual, later identified as a Polish company CEO, apologized publicly, admitting it was inappropriate.
Even Iga Świątek spoke out, criticizing adults who grab gifts intended for children: “Sometimes, it’s strange when I try to give something to the kid and the adult grabs it… that’s not the point.”
These back-to-back incidents have sparked broader concerns about fan behavior and security at major tennis events. While Sinner applauded the swift response from staff, the conversation around tightening measures at the US Open continues to gain momentum.
