The pictures, posted on her Instagram, featured a party on a luxurious yacht with friends and family. Piquet, who is known for her lavish lifestyle in Monaco, often shares glimpses of her daily life and festivities online. Her caption for the post read, “I have the best friends in the world đź’ť.”
Among those seen in the carousel of images was Max Verstappen’s mother, Sophie Kumpen, who also reacted to the post with an emoji in the comments. Also present was Penelope Kvyat, Kelly Piquet’s daughter with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. Penelope was born in July 2019. Currently, Kelly is pregnant with her second child—her first with Max Verstappen.
As the due date for the baby approaches, questions have emerged about whether Verstappen might miss the birth due to his demanding Formula 1 schedule. F1 drivers often travel extensively during the season, making it difficult to be present for personal milestones. However, Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko stated that the expected delivery is scheduled for early May and does not clash with any race weekends. Still, there’s a chance the baby could arrive earlier than expected, which might cause Verstappen to miss the birth.

Verstappen has previously acknowledged the possibility, stating that paternity leave doesn’t really exist in Formula 1. He expressed that while he would like to be there, the nature of his profession makes it uncertain. “Anything is possible,” he said. “But in F1 that (paternity leave) doesn’t exist. You cannot take two months off. If it happens, it happens. There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Despite some challenges Red Bull Racing has faced this season, Verstappen remains a strong competitor. He recently secured victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, reaffirming his status as a dominant force in the sport. However, this year’s performance from the team has not been as strong as in previous seasons, which could impact his chances of winning another championship.
