Emeka Egbuka Draft Rumors: Ohio State WR heads to NFC East to join forces with electric QB

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Originally from Steilacoom High School, Egbuka committed to play college football at Ohio State. In his most recent season, he played a pivotal role in helping the Buckeyes win their first national championship since 2014, recording 1,011 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Draft analysts currently project Egbuka as a late first-round to early second-round pick. In a recent mock draft by Dane Brugler, Egbuka is predicted to be selected by the Washington Commanders with the 29th overall pick. Brugler noted that while the Commanders could have addressed a major need at pass rusher with Donovan Ezeiruaku, the opportunity to add a polished and skilled receiver like Egbuka was too compelling to pass up. He highlighted how this move would bring Washington closer to having an all-Ohio State wide receiver corps.

The Commanders recently strengthened their receiver unit by signing former San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel. Adding a talented young player like Egbuka would give quarterback Jayden Daniels an even deeper arsenal of weapons on offense.

Another analyst, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report, also linked Egbuka to Washington. He emphasized that Egbuka would be a valuable addition to a wide receiver group that already includes former Ohio State players like Noah Brown and Terry McLaurin. Davenport suggested that Egbuka would be a notable upgrade in the slot position and would offer Daniels a consistent and reliable target in the passing game.

Last season, the Washington Commanders finished with a strong 12-5 record, placing second in the NFC East. Their playoff run ended in the NFC Championship Game, where they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Additionally, NFL analyst Trevor Sikkema proposed another potential landing spot for Egbuka: the Green Bay Packers. Holding the 23rd overall pick in the draft, the Packers may be looking to improve their wide receiver room, which Sikkema described as underwhelming. Despite concerns about Egbuka not fitting the typical physical mold of Green Bay’s receivers, Sikkema argued that Egbuka’s talent outweighs those concerns and that he would immediately be the best receiver on the team.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place from April 24 to April 26 in Green Bay,Wisconsin.
