The World’s Only International Surf and Environmental Film Festival Returns for 2025 Tour
The Save the Waves Film Festival is back on the road for 2025, bringing its unique mix of surf cinema and environmental awareness to theaters worldwide. Hosted by the nonprofit Save The Waves Coalition, this global film tour features eight captivating films and at least 14 confirmed screenings so far—with more locations to be announced.
The lineup offers something for everyone, from breathtaking glacier surfing in Greenland to a heartwarming story of a young surfer in Sri Lanka and an awe-inspiring journey through the Sardine Run in South Africa. These films go beyond waves and wipeouts, spotlighting pressing issues around ocean conservation and the global surf ecosystem.
“This festival isn’t just about showcasing beautiful surf spots,” said STW CEO Nik Strong-Cvetich. “It’s about education, inspiration, and how real change is possible when passionate people unite to protect our planet.”
To reach even more communities, Save The Waves has introduced a “film fest in a box.” This DIY kit allows local businesses, shops, and organizations to host their own screening events. It includes the full set of films, educational content, merchandise, and promotional materials.
For those passionate about surfing and the planet, this festival promises a meaningful ride.
