“Golf Is the Worst Four-Letter Word”: Bryson DeChambeau Battles Frustration and Keeps Title Hopes Alive at PGA Championship 2025
Strong Start, Rough Finish
Bryson DeChambeau had an up-and-down day during the third round of the 2025 PGA Championship on Saturday, May 17. The LIV Golf star kicked off strong, making three birdies early and adding two more on the back nine. But his momentum faltered at the end—he bogeyed the 16th hole and double-bogeyed the 17th, slightly deflating what had been a promising round.
Still, DeChambeau carded a 2-under-par 69, which moved him nine spots up the leaderboard. He currently sits tied for 8th at 5-under, just six strokes behind leader Scottie Scheffler heading into the final round.

In a moment of candid humor during his post-round press conference, DeChambeau was asked whether he felt frustrated when things didn’t go as planned. His response?
“That’s why golf is the worst four-letter word in the world.”
Despite the late-round stumbles, the two-time Major winner remains optimistic about his chances in the final round.
Eyes on a Sunday Surge
DeChambeau began the tournament with a 71, followed by a 68 in Round 2 to make the cut. After Saturday’s 69, he’s targeting a big finish. Speaking about his approach, he emphasized staying focused and aiming low:
“All I can do is control what I can control, and if I go out and shoot 6-, 7-under, that’s what I’m focused on doing… I’m going to shoot as low as I possibly can.”
Leaderboard and Tee Times
Scottie Scheffler holds a three-stroke lead after a sensational 65 in Round 3, with Alex Noren in second place and a tie for third between Davis Riley and J.T. Poston. DeChambeau, meanwhile, will tee off with Tony Finau at 2:00 pm ET on Sunday. Scheffler and Noren will start at 2:40 pm ET.
With just one round remaining, Bryson DeChambeau has the firepower and mindset to challenge for the title—if he can turn frustration into fuel.
