Because so many Tottenham players are out injured, Ange Postecoglou is currently operating with one hand tied behind his back.

Up to ten players are either definite or questionable ahead of Thursday’s (7 December) Premier League matchup against West Ham [Premier Injuries].

Last weekend, the Lilywhites faced Manchester City in a situation similar to this, but that did not stop them from drawing a thrilling game 3–3.

Tottenham Academy talent Alfie Dorrington was in the squad but did not play in that game; Jamie Donley came off the bench.

Dorrington may soon make his senior debut at Tottenham because of the team’s high regard for him, which accounts for his inclusion in the squad at the age of 18.

That would be quite the accomplishment for the teenage defender, considering he only began training with the first team in October.

Considering Spurs’ recent success, you wouldn’t rule out Postecoglou turning to Dorrington in the event of another injury.

On Wednesday, December 6, Postecoglou stated, “He’s been in the squad for the last three to four weeks so we’ve had plenty of time to look at him,” according to Football.London.

“Alfie might get his chance in the coming weeks, but we still have a lot of injuries and games ahead of us.”

Dorrington will be keen to seize that opportunity, as he has done at every turn thus far for both club and nation.

The native of Enfield has already earned five caps for the England Under-19s and is a regular at the Under-21 level.

Before winning the same trophy with the Tottenham U18s, Dorrington was a member of the victorious Tottenham Under-17 team that claimed the Premier League Cup.

Tottenham was obviously keen to lock him down to a new contract that would last until 2026, and it is now evident where he will go next in his development.

Naturally, Postecoglou won’t want to throw an 18-year-old in the deep end, but as we go into a demanding phase, he might not have much of an option.

The Premier League schedule is filling up quickly, so it’s possible that Dorrington will get his opportunity to prove himself on the big stage soon.

That time will come if not right now, then in not too far off future. And he will be fine if his current development is any indication.
