Expert Jamie Redknapp has given Tottenham Hotspur’s star player Pedro Porro high praise after his team defeated Newcastle United 4-1 on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, putting them back on the winning track.

Before Richarlison added a brace, scoring either side of halftime, Destiny Udogie opened the score.

Son Heung-min scored the fourth goal from the penalty spot, and Tottenham’s victory was too great to be overshadowed by Newcastle’s consolation.

Spurs, who had lost their previous five games, coasted past Newcastle with this important victory.

After halftime, right back Pedro Porro set up Richarlison to make it 3-0, which was a pivotal moment that cost Newcastle the match.

With an impeccably timed pass, Porro got past the Newcastle defense and found Richarlison in the goal.

After the game, pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp was impressed by Porro’s performance and proceeded to commend him.

In a four-man defense, Redknapp told Sky Sports that he didn’t think Porro had what it took to play right back.

Following his success as a wing back for Sporting, Porro was acquired by Spurs in a £44 million package deal. He was initially loaned to the team.

In a 6-1 loss at Newcastle United, Porro struggled in a back four, leading Redknapp to believe that Porro was “impossible” to play in that system.

Redknapp thinks Porro has been outstanding all season long, even though he is currently playing in a back four under Ange Postecoglou.

Pedro Porro played in the 6-1 away from home game last year, which would have been one of the hardest games, so I think he deserves special recognition,” Redknapp said. “When he played in a back four, I thought there was no way he could play in a back four, but he did. He is entering the game as an inverted full back in addition to playing in a back four. I didn’t notice that he was looking like a really good player right now. At the time, I believed that because he signed with Tottenham, his performances limited his ability to play in a back three. That was a significant performance for him throughout the entire season, not just today, and the manager deserves a lot of credit for what he’s done with him,” he added.

Porro has been a real attacking force for Tottenham in recent weeks.

The Spaniard has bagged four assists in his last five games, providing real quality when coming infield from his right back spot.

Porro has recorded 15 key passes in the last five games, as well as three shots on target, seven tackles, 14 accurate crosses and five successful dribbles.

Now seemingly settled in the Premier League, Porro is shining under Postecoglou and proving why Fabio Paratici splashed such a huge fee on him.
