Tottenham could be missing nine players when they face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs visit the City Ground on Friday night in another huge match for Reds boss Steve Cooper, after just one win in 12 league matches. Forest stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw at Wolves last time out and their chances of gaining another positive result against Tottenham is boosted by their rivals’ long injury list.

Postecoglou has been dealt huge injury problems in recent weeks, notably to key players like James Maddison and Micky van de Ven. It led to a five-match winless run before they impressively beat Newcastle United 4-1 last Sunday.

Postecoglou was boosted by the return of Pape Matar Sarr and Richarlison from injuries against Newcastle. But he could still be missing nine players when Tottenham face Forest.

“You mentioned James and Micky but you missed out Bentancur, how important Perisic was and when we won those games late, he was the one providing and Manor Solomon,” said Postecoglou. “I could go on and on.

“It sounds like excuses but that is the reality of the Premier League and you don’t need too much analysis to see why in the last few weeks we haven’t been as conclusive in our results as we were earlier in the year.”
