According to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic, Ajax has indicated interest in signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the upcoming transfer window, although they are not optimistic about securing a deal.

According to Eccleshare, Tottenham is anticipated to sign a new midfield player early in the upcoming month. Ange Postecoglou would ideally like a versatile midfielder who can play as a six or an eight because Yves Bissouma and Pierre Matar Sarr will both be leaving for the AFCON.

Although Ajax is aware that Tottenham is not interested in a loan agreement with a buyout clause, it is said that the Dane has indicated interest in joining the Eredivisie team.

Because of this, the Dutch team does not believe it will win the competition for the 28-year-old, as Juventus is still in the running.

Hojbjerg would rather join Juventus

According to Eccleshare, if Turin made a move for Hojbjerg instead of Ajax, he would be more interested in joining them.

Tottenham’s position on the midfield player is believed to have remained unchanged throughout the summer; the North London team is willing to pay the player’s asking price.

Hojbjerg should get his wish to leave if another midfield player does come through the door in January (and all signs point to Spurs making a strong push for Conor Gallagher).

But until they acquire some money by selling some players, Juventus is unlikely to be able to finance a long-term agreement. Spurs might look into the possibility of trading Samuel Iling-Junior directly for him.
