After going into cardiac arrest, Luton captain Tom Lockyer is recuperating in the hospital

At the 65-minute mark, the game was stopped to address a medical emergency.

When the clock stopped at 65 minutes into the second half with the score at 1-1, Lockyer was being attended to by staff and paramedics.

The audience gave the defender a standing ovation as he was taken off the pitch of play on a stretcher with the medical staff around him.

The Premier League announced that the game had been called off after the players were removed.

According to a Premier League statement:

“A player health issue has forced the cancellation of AFC Bournemouth vs. Luton Town FC’s Premier League match.

“Our thoughts are with Tom Lockyer and all players involved in today’s match.”

Wales defender Lockyer underwent surgery in June to repair atrial fibrillation after falling during Luton Town’s Sky Bet Championship play-off final victory against Coventry.

Before Saturday’s meeting, the Hatters captain had made 15 appearances in all competitions since returning to action at the start of the new season.

Wales said on X, formerly Twitter, “Our thoughts are with Tom Lockyer.”

Lockyer was later revealed to be “responsive” and had been rushed to the hospital by Luton.

“We all hope and pray for our leader and captain Tom Lockyer, who is thankfully responsive and has been taken to hospital,”

“At this very trying moment, Luton town  would like to thank everyone for the beautiful cheers and Locks’ name being sung inside the stadium.

Elijah Adebayo scored the game’s first goal for Luton early in the first half. After the interval, Dominic Solanke tied the score, but the game was called off after sixty-five minutes.
