Newcastle United is facing a deluge of transfer rumors, with Kieran Trippier reportedly taking a step away from Bayern Munich and the club possibly facing the loss of top player Bruno Guimarães owing to FFP restrictions.

A season after making it into the Champions League after a fantastic campaign led by one of the best managers in the league, Eddie Howe, the Magpies are currently outside the top seven of the Premier League standings.

Newcastle is therefore still keeping an eye on the best players available on the transfer market, with a particular emphasis on acquiring young midfield players. Amadou Onana, a standout for Everton, has already been connected to the Magpies.

According to L’Équipe, Newcastle is now reportedly after Rennes midfielder Désiré Doué, an 18-year-old prospect who is currently among the best in Ligue 1 at the position, along with Borussia Dortmund.

Newcastle has recently demonstrated a keen sense of talent.

Doué is a true breakout star who should be on the real mainstream radar in a few months. He may be the most good U21 midfielder available for transfer in 2024.

As summer approaches, expect the transfer speculations around the Frenchman to intensify; therefore, Newcastle supporters should take heart in the fact that their team is already involved.

Everyone knows that Dortmund has an excellent scouting eye, but Newcastle has recently demonstrated a similar skill. For example, Bruno G was a brilliant signing from Lyon to establish the regime under Saudi ownership.

Although Doué would require some time to get used to life in the Premier League, Newcastle may save money by signing him now rather than having to pay Rennes an even greater sum later on.
