Yesterday, Leeds United and a Premier League club began “new talks” regarding an attacking signing, with the 49ers pressing

There is now just one week left for Leeds United to complete any transfer business this month.

The Whites still need to strengthen a few spots in order to contend for promotion, even though they haven’t added any new players during the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s team prioritizes defense, especially with Archie Gray suffering an injury last night, Pascal Struijk needing more time than anticipated to recuperate, and Charlie Cresswell probably going out.

But it looks like Leeds is moving the fastest toward bringing in an offensive addition, which is again necessary given that Dan James had to be replaced in the victory over Norwich City because of a hip flexor problem. The duration of his absence is unknown at this point.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Leeds met with Burnley again yesterday to discuss Manuel Benson’s signing and that they are still working to move the deal through.

Leeds is attempting to sign Benson.

The rumor of Leeds’ interest in Benson surfaced last week, but Southampton, another team vying for promotion, is expected to put up a fierce fight for his signature.

It was also stated that Benson is eager to join the Saints, but negotiations are challenging because of the tense off-field dynamics between the two teams.

That might therefore allow Leeds to step in and front the queue for the 26-year-old attacker, who scored 12 goals in Burnley’s promotion winning campaign last season.

To bring balance to their lineup, Leeds needs a new left-winger with left foot, and considering his track record in the league, he would be a perfect fit for Farke’s team.

In an effort to maintain their promotion push, Leeds will hopefully be able to finalize a couple deals in the next seven days, of which Benson is one.
