It wouldn’t be transfer deadline day without a few twists and turns at Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, Spurs are so often at the centre of attention on deadline day, and that may once again be the case this January.

There’s plenty bubbling away under the surface at Tottenham with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Dominic Solanke continuing to be linked.

There’s also another deal Spurs are working frantically on on deadline day regarding Lucas Bergvall.

The teenage talent has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, and he was even pictured in Barcelona this week, but according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, Spurs will try all they can to hijack this move at the last minute.

Tottenham trying to hijack Bergvall deal

Romano shared what he knows about the teenager.

“While I’m speaking for Lucas Bergvall. What happened? The boy is in Barcelona with his family, we know Barcelona have an agreement with the club to sign the player next summer for €10m (£8m). But it is important to say that Tottenham are still calling the boy every single hour trying to convince Lucas Bergvall and to hijack the deal,” Romano said.

“Barcelona have had very advanced talks and are trying to get the greenlight from the player. Tottenham are trying to hijack this move in every possible way, calling the player, calling the family, offering an important contract, and it’s also true that Bergvall has been in London a few days ago to visit Tottenham. While I’m speaking Barcelona are confident, but Tottenham, until the final minute, will hope. I will keep you posted. Crazy things are always there on deadline day and maybe a potential hijack.”

Starting with a bang

You know it’s deadline day when talks of a hijack start to happen, and it looks like Spurs may have more than one trick up their sleeve today.

The north London club have been continuously linked with a new midfielder this month, and this late move for Bergvall just goes to show how quickly things can change in these final hours.

Of course, convincing any player to turn down Barcelona isn’t an easy task, but the fact that Spurs are even trying this just goes to show that they may well be busy on deadline day.

As always, Tottenham remain a team to keep a close eye on right up until the window closes.
