If Manchester City’s participation in the FA Cup continues, Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League calendar may undergo another adjustment in the upcoming weeks.

Spurs are currently awaiting word on the new date of their scheduled encounter at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea. The original match this month was called off because Mauricio Pochettino’s team advanced to the Carabao Cup final, where they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool in extra time.

In the remaining weeks of the season, Tottenham’s derby against the Blues will have to be rescheduled to a midweek slot. However, Ange Postecoglou’s team now has to consider the prospect that another important game in April may need to be moved from its original location. This is due to the fact that Pep Guardiola’s team would advance to the FA Cup semifinals on the weekend of April 20 if Manchester City defeated Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in the quarterfinals next month.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is scheduled to host Spurs against City on April 20. However, there’s a chance that the match has been moved around a little bit for TV coverage that weekend.

Tottenham currently has four challenging weekends in a row—first against Newcastle, then City, Arsenal, and finally Liverpool—starting with the City match.

If the City game is shifted, Ange Postecoglou will have advantages and disadvantages. If it is not shifted to a midweek match in or around that schedule of fixtures, it might disrupt an extremely difficult run of games; however, City’s possible advancement in the Champions League may also have an impact.

However, Spurs presently have a full week to prepare for the encounter against Guardiola’s team, but a rescheduled match would only give them a few days to recover from the previous fixture. This is the flip side of any potential fixture transfer.

Additionally, it would signal a busy conclusion to a season that would have concluded with two matches against Sheffield United and Burnley, two promoted teams, eight days apart.

If at all possible, City must defeat Newcastle at home before Postecoglou and his coaches can make the necessary adjustments.
