Tottenham are hoping to sign a £45 million star this summer, with his current club likely having to sell him due to financial problems.

Ange Postecoglou recently remarked that the Spurs squad will need a lot of work over the next few transfer windows to get to the appropriate level, but it’s reasonable to say the recruitment team has done a fantastic job thus far.

The additions of Micky van de Ven and James Maddison last summer were critical to Tottenham’s table position and fight for a Champions League spot, while Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig has also proven effective – so much so that they may decide to sign him permanently.

Technical director Johan Lange and the whole recruitment team have cherry-picked players from across the continent who appear to be tailor-made for Postecoglou’s system, with van de Ven being the most notable example, since his blistering pace allows Spurs to play an aggressive high line defensively.

Tottenham hopes to improve on their transfer success under Postecoglou while avoiding catastrophes such as the club-record signing of flop Tanguy Ndombele.

One of their top priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window is to sign a midfielder, since Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg appears to be on his way out of Tottenham.

They’ve been linked with a move for Conor Gallagher as an alternative, as the England international’s contract expires next summer with no indication of a renewal.

However, given Chelsea and Tottenham’s rivalry, a deal may be difficult to complete. Ederson of Atalanta is believed to be a Tottenham alternative to Gallagher this summer, but Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester City appears to be another option.

According to talkSPORT this week, Tottenham are considering signing Dewsbury-Hall as Leicester may be forced to sell.

The midfielder has 11 goals and 13 assists in 38 Championship appearances this season, making him one of the Foxes’ standout performers, but the club must balance its books after incurring £90 million in losses last year.

Leicester’s loss might be Tottenham’s gain, as Postecoglou’s side joins a slew of other clubs monitoring the £45 million-rated Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

“He is a fantastic example of someone who works extremely hard, and he has proven that if you work hard, opportunities will come your way,” said former Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers.

“It is a real joy as a coach and manager to see a young player progress through the system here over many years and then score his first goal at his home stadium in front of his home fans, something he has dreamed of doing his entire life.”

“What’s most essential for him is to keep demonstrating his argument and to achieve consistency. He has certainly done that since joining the team, and he has been a revelation to us.

“He is a young man who is really determined. He possesses excellent personal characteristics as well. His humility and vision of where he wants to go are extremely obvious, and he understands that it is all about labor. It is
