Henri Lansbury, a former midfielder for Aston Villa, disclosed that he was not fond of Johan Lange and called Tottenham’s choice to hire him “crazy.”

Almost six months after Fabio Paratici left his position as Tottenham’s managing director of football, Lange assumed the position last month.

The Dane was hired three years ago as Villa’s sporting director. He had previously worked as the technical director at FC Copenhagen from 2014 to 2020.

However, following Monchi’s summer arrival at Villa Park, his position at the Midlands club was renamed as global sports director.

According to some reports, the 44-year-old was highly recommended to the Tottenham hierarchy by Mile Jedinak, the assistant coach for the team and a former teammate of the Dane at Villa (Football Insider).

Last week, The Standard revealed that Lange’s proficiency in utilizing data to pinpoint transfer targets was a primary factor in Spurs’ decision to hire him.

After quitting football in the summer, the 33-year-old stated on Filthy Fellas, “I went to Villa after I done well (at Forest).” Then, probably in my final year, they informed me that I wouldn’t be joining the squad due to my repeated injuries. I thought this was fair enough. That is the state of affairs.

They said, “We are trying to buy you out of your contract,” while they were acting in that manner. They extend to you an offer. I say, “Here’s my contract; pay me and I’ll bounce,” if you want me to leave.

“Thereafter, I go in every day. Workout with the U23 squad. There’s no getting me down. Good morning, how are you? I’m saying. What’s up with the family?Every employee. I’ll greet each and every person. However, it seemed that Lange was the only one making decisions.

When Lansbury was informed that Johan Lange had apparently moved to Tottenham, he replied, “Yeah, crazy how they have taken him, in my opinion.” Wishing Tottenham luck.
