Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has made hints that Alfie Dorrington might be a senior game time goon.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday before Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s Premier League matchup with West Ham, the manager of the Spurs made his remarks.

Postecoglou said that Dorrington might get a chance in the upcoming weeks because the Spurs have been extremely thin on defense.

Tottenham has been without the suspended Cristian Romero, who is back, and the injured Micky van de Ven for the past few weeks.

Due to these absences, Spurs’ center backs in recent weeks have included Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Emerson Royal.

“Perhaps he will have a chance.”

Maybe he will get an opportunity’

In quotes transcribed by football.london, Postecoglou was asked whether Tottenham’s defensive crisis meant Dorrington could get a look-in.

“He’s been in the squad the last three or four weeks,” said the Tottenham boss.

Alfie and Jamie (Donley), who clicked, are training alongside us and are a part of the first team, so they get daily opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and get involved.

“We are really short on defensive players right now, so perhaps in the coming weeks he will get a chance.”

Alfie Dorrington is Tottenham Hotspur’s best prospect.

Following an incredible ascent through the Spurs ranks, Dorrington has been tipped to make his senior debut for Tottenham in recent weeks.

Dorrington has played in three EFL Trophy games and eight Premier League 2 games this season, recording one assist.

The 6′ 5in defender has contributed to Spurs U21s winning all two of their season’s Premier League matches.

In a Q&A earlier this season, Alasdair Gold of Football.london described Dorrington as a “terrific young defender.”

Even though he seems like such a great prospect, we obviously cannot get ahead of ourselves.

There is a significant difference in skill between senior Premier League football and Under-21 football, and very few teenage players are able to cross it easily.

Dorrington is expected to make his Spurs debut this season, but before he can establish himself as a regular for Tottenham, he probably needs to spend a season or two in the EFL.
