When Newcastle United plays Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (4:30 pm kickoff), they will be buoyed by the return of at least one important player from injury.

Sean Longstaff sustained an ankle injury at AFC Bournemouth one month ago, which has kept him out of Newcastle’s last four games. The 26-year-old managed to finish the game at the Vitality Stadium, but he has since missed Newcastle’s games against Everton, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he has unofficially announced on Twitter that he is back with Eddie Howe, writing, “Back at it down in London.”

The midfield player included a picture promoting the game with the tweet. On Thursday, Newcastle will aim to recover from a 3-0 loss at Everton.

Eddie Howe, the manager of the Magpies, stated last week that Longstaff’s injury was not permanent and that he expected to return to action shortly. With three goals in 17 games this season, the midfielder is enjoying his joint-best scoring season at the club. He has been a vital member of Newcastle’s midfield thus far.

Last weekend at St. James’ Park, Longstaff was in the stands watching Anthony Gordon score the game’s lone goal to give his team a 1-0 victory over Man United. He celebrated the three points with his teammates in the dressing room following the game.

Additionally, Longstaff posted a picture of the dressing room on Monday night, saying in the caption that his “full focus” was now on Thursday’s trip to Everton, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Longstaff tweeted, “What a performance from the lads.” “Hope you enjoyed your weekends Mags and full focus now on Thursday!”

Longstaff traveled to Spurs this weekend despite missing the game at Goodison Park.
