According to The Daily Mirror, Newcastle United may rekindle their interest in Hugo Lloris after their summer attempt to sign the Tottenham player failed.

According to the report, Newcastle is searching for a new goalkeeper because of the injury that recently sidelined England international Nick Pope, who will now miss four months of action.

Although it is anticipated that Martin Dubravka will stay in goal for the foreseeable future, Eddie Howe reportedly wants to bring in a suitable backup in January, and Lloris is one of the players they have their eye on.

Hugo Lloris, the French goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur, celebrates following his team’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.

Newcastle is going to try again for Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman is reportedly highly regarded by the Magpies hierarchy, who attempted to sign him on deadline day last summer but were unsuccessful; the former Spurs captain “politely rejected” them at the time.

According to the report, Spurs are eager to let go of goalkeeper Lloris, whose contract with the North London club expires in the summer of 2022, and Newcastle is now considering making a loan approach for the player.

As an alternative to the Tottenham goalkeeper, The Mirror reports that Newcastle is also considering former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
