Sales of Willy Gnonto may possibly help Leeds United pull off a surprise move for Galatasaray striker Kerem Akturkoglu, with negotiations reportedly beginning for a January transfer.

This season, 25-year-old Akturkoglu is at the peak of his abilities. In just 27 appearances, he has contributed to 15 goals for the Turkish team. a team that Leeds clearly views as competitors in light of the events from April 2000.

Almost 24 years ago, on the eve of a UEFA Cup semi-final, two Leeds supporters were stabbed by Galatasaray supporters. Ever since, Leeds has honored the lives of Kevin Speight and Christopher Loftus annually.

In spite of this, information this week came out of Turkey claiming Leeds and the 26-year-old Turkey winger had been in “regular” conversations about a signing. He is not willing to be sold by Galatasaray during the winter window.

Unless the cost is reasonable. a player who has previously received accolades from Barcelona boss Xavi and has scored twice against Manchester United this season. Akturkoglu is reportedly in negotiations with Lazio as well.

Selling Willy Gnonto makes Kerem Akturkoglu available to Leeds United.

Selling Gnonto, though, might actually help a deal. Not only does it provide Akturkoglu more room, but it also benefits us monetarily. However, since Lazio also desires Gnonto. The competition is eliminated when he is sold to the Italians.

Roma and Lazio are vying for Gnonto as well. Therefore, it’s thought that Lazio has both Gnonto and Akturkoglu on its short list in front of January as Maurizio Sarri tries to expand his alternatives on the wings.

It remains to be seen if Leeds is interested in “wizard” Akturkoglu. However, Lazio can appear like a better choice. Leeds can help us acquire Akturkoglu if they can work out a deal with Lazio for Gnonto.
