With Manchester United and Newcastle United of the Premier League showing interest in Jean-Clair Todibo, Tottenham Hotspur is trying to get a head start in the transfer market.

Todibo is reportedly “keen to join” Ange Postecoglou’s North London project, and Spurs have held “further talks” with the player’s representation over the past week, according to the Daily Mail.

The announcement will be a huge setback for United, who were hopeful that the 23-year-old’s choice might shift in their favor due to the upcoming arrival of Nice’s owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

This season, injuries have beset all three of the clubs interested in Todibo, and it’s clear that these problems have affected each team’s performance. Erik ten Hag is now filling in for Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez in center defense at Old Trafford as a result of a particularly crippling injury problem that has affected the entire team.

The Todibo pricing was disclosed.

Currently valued at over £35 million, Todibo has been an essential member of Nice’s defense this season. In the January transfer window, the Reds might find such a sum to be prohibitive, particularly given the current state of affairs where signings are mostly reliant on outgoings.
