For the sixth time since going to Spain, Ben Brereton Diaz was left on Villarreal’s bench on Wednesday night. The player surfaced as a surprise target for Leeds United during the January transfer window.

This season, the 24-year-old is having difficulty getting into the La Liga team. It follows Blackburn’s signing with Villarreal. In two seasons with the Championship team, he scored thirty-six goals in the league.

Nevertheless, he is having trouble finding that form again at Villarreal. Despite making 19 appearances for the Spanish team, he has neither scored a goal or provided an assist. According to reports, Villarreal might be open to letting him leave.

There may be a loan agreement in the works, and Leeds are rumoured to be keen in bringing him back to the Championship and England. Boca Juniors and Premier League teams are also interested.

Brereton Diaz, who is valued at £8.6 million, was benched last night as Villarreal defeated Celta Vigo 3-2. This is the sixth time this season that Villarreal has passed on Brereton Diaz.

Ben Brereton, a Leeds target, was once again benched by Villarreal.

Ben Brereton Diaz would undoubtedly consider leaving early if Leeds decides to make a move because he was benched in his team’s final match before the Yellow Submarines play again on January 2.

Does Leeds require him?

Since Patrick Bamford is having trouble regaining his 2020–21 form, Leeds may try to make a deal for a striker. More firepower is usually a good thing. This is where Brereton has proven himself.

However, Leeds undoubtedly need to bolster other positions, so if we are busy in January, it will only be to sign a no. 10 or left-back. As previous reports state, one to monitor, however improbable.
