Fixture: Luton Town vs Newcastle United
Competition: Premier League
Kick-off: 15:00 UK time
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, has selected his team to play Luton Town in the Premier League this afternoon.
Despite losing their most recent Premier League match and being eliminated from the EFL Cup by Chelsea in midweek, Howe’s team will be looking for three more points today.
The Magpies’ road record is concerning, though, as they have dropped four and drew two of their previous six games away from St James’ Park across all competitions.
When the teams last faced off in the FA Cup in 2018, Newcastle emerged victorious 3-1. The two teams’ most recent league encounter ended in a 0-0 tie in 1993.
Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka is starting in goal today, and Howe starts Dan Burn, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, and Kieran Trippier at the defence.
Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff, and Lewis Miley play in midfield, with Callum Wilson being supported by Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon.
At any time, Howe has the option to turn to his bench, which includes Sven Botman and Matt Ritchie.
