On Friday night, Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven delivered some good news to the supporters. The Spurs player said that a comeback to competitive activity should occur sooner rather than later while supporting fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld in his World Darts Championship match.

 

Since hamstring trouble in early November, Van de Ven has been a major loss for Tottenham. Following his summer transfer from Wolfsburg, the 22-year-old made a name for himself as a crucial element of Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup.

 

When the Spurs manager said earlier this week that Van van Ven and James Maddison—an equally vital teammate—were “nowhere near” returning to first-team training, it demoralised fans.

 

Nevertheless, at a Friday appearance at Alexandra Palace, Van de Ven presented a different image, stating, “It’s going well – only two more weeks [before I’m back in training].”

 

The Dutchman’s darting antics included defeating legendary referee Russ Bray in a nine-dart challenge. And in the evening, Van Barneveld easily defeated Radek Szaganski 3-1 to repay his support.
