The midfielder for Tottenham, Pape Matar Sarr, has reached an agreement to sign a new contract with the team in principle.

The Athletic reports that Spurs are almost certain to sign the midfield player to a new, long-term contract.

According to the report, the player has approved the general terms of the upgraded deal.

It also says that an announcement is coming soon even though a deal hasn’t been properly signed yet.

Under Ange Postecoglou, the 21-year-old is having a breakout season, surpassing players like Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the standings.

Alongside Yves Bissouma, he has made a name for himself as one of the first names in the starting lineup.

He has made 16 starts so far and has scored twice, one against Bournemouth earlier today and the other during their 2-0 victory over United. But the Senegalese’s afternoon was short-lived as he was substituted off in the thirty minutes due to an injury.

Spurs and his country, with whom he was supposed to travel for the AFCON, will suffer greatly from his absence.

Although the full degree of his injuries is unknown, he may have to skip the competition for his nation.
