Since Micky van de Ven and James Maddison were forced off against Chelsea in early November due to long-term injuries and bans, Tottenham’s team has been decimated by injuries and suspensions.
Since then, Spurs have also had to deal with a significant number of players being out of action due to injury or suspension, including Yves Bissouma, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, and others.
In order to strengthen Postecoglou’s options, Tottenham is expected to pursue a center-back, midfielder, and winger in January. There is also the minor issue of Harry Kane’s replacement for the upcoming season.

Though they rank among the league’s top goal scorers, the Lilywhites have performed very well overall without their previous talisman. However, a few injuries could jeopardize their ability to attack.
Spurs are reportedly compiling a shortlist of strikers for Kane’s replacement in 2019. In that sense, Tottenham is showing interest in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, while there have been intermittent Spurs connections with Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
Spurs could look to add a new number nine in January, particularly if Richarlison departs (Dean Jones). Spanish rumors currently indicate that they are interested in Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi.

In fact, a Spanish media source claims that Tottenham views Icardi as a “solution” to bolster their offensive line following Kane’s summer transfer to Bayern Munich.
The Argentine, who has previously concluded several seasons as Serie A’s leading striker, was also named Italy’s footballer of the year in 2018.
