According to transfer analyst Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are apparently at odds over a deal for Morten Frendrup, a star for Genoa.

Spurs have already acquired Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin to bolster their defense and front line, respectively, demonstrating their busyness during the winter transfer window.

It has been reported, though, that the Lilywhites might not be done with their winter business just yet because they are also considering adding a new midfield player. Conor Gallagher has been identified as their top choice among the individuals connected to a move to the recently rebuilt White Hart Lane. But frendrup is starting to become a viable alternative.

Jones, writing on GIVEMESPORT, states that while scouting Dragusin of Genoa, Tottenham’s scouts were impressed by the midfield player.

The journalist goes on to say that Spurs intend to scout the player for the remainder of the current campaign in preparation for a possible summer window raid. So, it seems Ange Postecoglou’s side aren’t planning to sign Frendrup this month.

Jones does, however, report that Liverpool is also interested in signing the midfield player, so Spurs will likely have fierce competition from their rivals to complete any prospective deal.

The Merseyside club overhauled their engine room last summer but they couldn’t sign a top-class holding midfielder. According to reports, Jurgen Klopp’s team is still looking for a new deep-lying playmaker.

Frendrup, who originally joined Genoa in 2022, has emerged as a crucial player in Alberto Gilardino’s starting lineup lately.

The 22-year-old is a very gifted player who has the capacity to develop into a premier midfielder in the future. Previous suggestions have indicated that Frendrup plays like N’Golo Kante and is a “midfield destroyer.” Therefore, if Tottenham or Liverpool are able to sign him, it would be a wise move on their part.

If Spurs and the Merseyside team are able to compete for the Dane’s signature this year, it will be interesting to see who will ultimately be able to secure the deal.
