Spurs are nearing an agreement to sign a loan agreement with a Premier League club.

After a brief stint at Manchester United, Sergio Reguilon rejoined Tottenham Hotspur this month. However, it appears that the Spaniard will be leaving the team once more, as Brentford is expected to sign him on a loan deal that will last until the end of the current campaign.

Reguilon’s fortunes have been somewhat of a rollercoaster since joining Spurs back in 2020. Initially a consistent starter under Jose Mourinho, the 27-year-old has struggled to make an impact under Ange Postecoglou and Antonio Conte.

Reguilon spent the previous season on loan at Atletico Madrid; however, due to injury problems, the short-term move was not successful, and the left-back returned to North London during the summer.

Postecoglou gave Reguilon a clean slate, but he failed to live up to it and was sent on loan to Manchester United to cover for injuries. His time with the Red Devils was somewhat successful, although his loan period ended in January.

Sergio Reguilon is almost certain to join Brentford.

It has been widely speculated in recent days (L’Equipe) that Reguilon will sign a season-long loan with Brentford. Fabrizio Romano has revealed new information regarding the negotiations, making it appear as though the move is closer than ever.

“Brentford are advancing in talks to sign Sergio Reguilón,” tweeted Romano. A final-stage loan agreement with Tottenham is almost reached. There will be player-side discussions as we wait for Reguilón’s decision because other teams are interested.

Sergio Reguilon should have no trouble landing a permanent move in the summer if he can string together another strong run of play at Brentford (or whatever team he ends up joining). Let’s hope that this switch gets implemented soon.
