Fabrizio Romano reports that Atletico Madrid has moved to sign the £25 million player that Tottenham is looking for

According to a recent update provided by journalist Fabrizio Romano, one Tottenham Hotspur target may be leaving this month.

Although Ange Postecoglou has already reaped the benefits of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin’s January additions, it appears Spurs are far from finished.

With Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier out of the picture, Daniel Levy should have had some leeway.

In addition to pursuing Antonio Nusa, who appears ready to take Europe by storm, Spurs are reportedly also pursuing a few other outstanding young players.

Maybe there may still be significant offers if players like Bryan Gil and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg depart Tottenham this month.

But it appears like Spurs will need to act quickly if they are to sign Arthur Vermeeren of Royal Antwerp.

This month, Tottenham has been frequently linked to a deal for Vermeeren. Romano has now provided an update that may be a little alarming from that perspective.

Romano, taking to X, revealed that Antwerp had been contacted by Atletico Madrid after the 18-year-old had been thoroughly scouted.

The reporter verified that other teams are keen on closing a trade this month, indicating fierce rivalry for Spurs.

Arthur Vermeeren, a target for Tottenham, has a lot of attention this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano shared the most recent news, saying: “Arthur Vermeeren is among the names on Atletico Madrid’s list because he has been scouted numerous times.

“I understand that Atleti contacted to inquire about the terms of the Vermeeren agreement.

“A number of teams are eager to sign elite talent from Belgium.”

Of course, Vermeeren might be available in January for a very modest £25 million; Ange Postecoglou and his group might find this to be too good to pass up.

Postecoglou is well recognized for his love of mentoring young players and his track record of assisting them in realizing their potential.

It will also be fascinating to watch if Tottenham makes a coordinated move this month in light of Romano’s report.

In terms of their long-term plans, Spurs do still require one or two midfielders.

Furthermore, it would be a huge step forward if Vermeeren could take the place of someone like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Oliver Skipp, for instance.

Nevertheless, despite being the target of a recent bid, it appears that one player isn’t interested in leaving Spurs this month.
