Report: Anthony Gordon is described as a “incredible” athlete by a player that Newcastle wants to sign for £42.5 million.

This month, Newcastle United has some extremely promising players lined up, but the funding isn’t there to sign them.

Amadou Onana is a midfielder that the Magpies are hoping to sign, but since rumors circulated that Miguel Almiron would be sold, they now have their eye on an offensive player.

The 29-year-old Paraguayan is rumored to be heading to Saudi Arabia, and Newcastle is hoping to pay £30 million for him.

Eddie Howe’s side would benefit financially greatly from that and might be able to make significant investments. Additionally, Newcastle has identified the guy as a possible Miguel Almiron replacement, thus signing him will undoubtedly cost a lot of money.

Morgan Gibbs-White is a target signing for Newcastle

If Almiron departs the team this month, Newcastle is reportedly interested in signing Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.

Toon scouts have reportedly seen Gibbs-White a lot, especially during Forest’s Boxing Day 3-1 victory over Newcastle.

The Telegraph does note that Forest is eager to keep the 23-year-old at the City Ground, so any deal will be challenging to complete.

How he compares to Miguel Almiron, a winger for Newcastle

That should come as no surprise considering that Gibbs-White is among Nuno Espirito Santo’s key players. After joining Forest in the Premier League after Wolves bought him for £42.5 million in the summer of 2022, he has been a huge asset to the team.

There is absolutely no possibility that this deal will go through if Newcastle does not sell anyone, since you would have to believe it would take that much money and more to entice Forest to sell.

However, it is really exciting to think that Gibbs-White could take Almiron’s place. Though he is far more adaptable than Miggy, he is still much younger at 23. He is equally effective in the final third and can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder.

This season, MGW has contributed six goals from 22 appearances, while Miggy has contributed seven from 31 games. Gibbs-White contributed 13 goals in 38 appearances for Forest last season, while Almiron scored 15 in 41 for the Magpies.

Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon have previously played together.

Given his positive rapport with Nottingham Forest’s number 10, Anthony Gordon, a Toon winger, would undoubtedly be interested in a transfer for Gibbs-White. They were on the Under-21 team that won the Euros last summer, and they have played together at the youngest level for England.

Gordon has already received high praise from Gibbs-White, who described him as “athletically incredible,” so the opportunity to play with him at the club level may be alluring.

It’s unclear, though, if Gibbs-White is amenable to the change. But that’s not the big deal; the big deal is how much he might cost.
