“Talking to people close to him”: A journalist has revealed some important Tottenham and Gallagher news.

The last few hours of the 2024 winter transfer window at Hotspur Way might see Tottenham Hotspur make a “cheeky low-ball bid” for Chelsea winger Conor Gallagher, according to talkSPORT writer Alex Crook.

Throughout the winter transfer window, Spurs have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the Blues player as Ange Postecoglou attempts to bolster his midfield depth.

Despite a busy winter, Tottenham is still interested in Gallagher.

Tottenham can be happy with the business they have done during the busy winter transfer window of 2024, as they aim to advance and qualify for the Champions League in the second half of the 2023–2024 season.

Spurs announced at the beginning of January that attacker Timo Werner of RB Leipzig will be joining them on loan through the conclusion of the 2023–2024 campaign. For roughly £15 million, or €17 million, the Lilywhites may purchase the Germany international outright in June. Later on in the week, Tottenham agreed to pay £26.7 million to acquire Radu Dragusin, a center-back for Genoa.

But even after the Romanian international was taken into custody, Postecoglou was still reportedly trying to bolster his midfield. The Australian head coach is reportedly searching for an all-action player to partner with James Maddison in the middle of the field, according to The Independent. Gallagher of Chelsea has been recognized as the best candidate for that position, but any agreement might cost up to £50 million.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated to GIVEMESPORT on January 31 that a Tottenham acquisition of Gallagher is still a possibility. Journalist Dean Jones, however, also stated to GIVEMESPORT on January 30 that the midfield player for the Blues had “no real interest” in moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Gallagher is “not pushing” for a move to Tottenham, according to Alex Crook

It has been communicated to Crook that Gallagher is not actively pursuing a transfer to Tottenham, even though the Chelsea player is scheduled to lead the Blues in the Carabao Cup final later this month. The talkSPORT reporter acknowledges that the Spurs might present a “low-ball offer” to start talks on Deadline Day, though. To GIVEMESPORT, Crook said:

Speaking to some close to Gallagher today, Tottenham may make a brazen low-ball bid, but they don’t see a change in the circumstances. Once more, he leads the club and will most likely lead them in the Carabao Cup championship match in a few weeks. He isn’t pushing, then. His contract is still in effect for another 18 months. Thus, perhaps in the summer he will give it some thought, and if he is unable to negotiate a better offer, he may consider moving, much like Mason Mount did.

Alejo Veliz may be on loan from Tottenham this winter.

Sevilla has offered Tottenham a late winter transfer window deal to capture Alejo Veliz on loan through the conclusion of the 2023–2024 campaign, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. The 20-year-old striker would move on a straight loan, with no buyout option available to the defending Europa League champions. According to the same newspaper, Spurs will choose whether to loan the South American to the La Liga team on Deadline Day.
