West Ham is worried about Bowen’s injury.

The Hammers are anxiously awaiting word on Bowen’s availability this week. Following treatment on the pitch, the England winger hobbled off the field during their 2-1 Premier League victory over Wolves on Saturday. He left the field via the tunnel after a challenge with Mario Lemina early in the second half.

Following the match, Hammers manager David Moyes said he had assumed it was simply a knock, but he was very doubtful about their next games since he knew from experience that “they don’t go away too quick.”

“We must hope he is well,” Moyes remarked. “All of our best players are needed. He’s had a knee go through his back or hip. It’s not a turn of events. He claimed to be extremely stiff and kneed. I’ve personally experienced one or two of those, and they don’t go away quickly. Hopefully, it won’t be too horrible.

After an incredible season for Xabi Alonso and company, West Ham takes on Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday with the goal of being the first team to defeat the Bundesliga leaders this year.

After that, they have two home games: the first against Fulham at London Stadium, followed by the second leg in ten days. Will Bowen, though, be able to participate?

Two West Ham insiders have now given the Hammers supporters a boost in that regard. One club source has disclosed that Bowen is “still sore today” and that “we won’t know till Wednesday or Thursday if he will be fit,” according to Sean Whetstone, the West Ham Football Twitter account manager.

ExWHUemployee has also given his followers an update in a similar vein in the interim.

Ex posted on The West Ham Way Patreon, saying, “We have an update from a top source on Bowen who has said that he is still sore.” “They will have more information in the next 48 hours, but they are unable to predict at this time whether he will make it on Thursday. It is only believed to be severe bruises, nothing too dangerous.

Bowen’s minutes speak for themselves in the West Ham lineup; there isn’t a true substitute for him. This season, he has participated in 29 Premier League games for 90 minutes, and he had only missed one match (against Burnley) prior to being replaced against Wolves.

Mohammed Kudus may be requested to move to the right, while Maxwel Cornet may be asked to step up if he is deemed unfit. Alternately, it might force Moyes to switch up his shape. He has employed a back three against stronger teams in the past and might do so again to counter Leverkusen, who also use a back three.

But he will be hopeful that the European hero of the previous season will be cleared to compete again.
