Will Lankshear has sent Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou a reminder of his quality.

Lankshear has been arguably the most impressive player among Spurs’ youth teams at Hotspur Way this season.

The striker has been on fire in front of goal as of late, scoring four in his last four in the Premier League 2.

He has 16 in total in the competition for the season, but despite his incredible form for the Under-21s, Postecoglou is yet to hand the 19-year-old a first-team opportunity.

Kobbie Mainoo has demonstrated what talented youngsters are capable of if handed a chance to prove themselves, and Postecoglou should learn from the Manchester United ace and take a closer look at Lankshear between now and the end of the season.

Will Lankshear sends Ange Postecoglou a reminder at Tottenham

While Lankshear is young, he proved once again on Saturday (20 April) that he is more than ready to make the step up as Spurs drew 2-2 with Manchester United’s Under-21s at Lamex Stadium.

The talisman demonstrated his natural goalscoring instincts as he flicked on Jamie Donley’s cross at the front post into the path of Jude Soonsup-Bell, before diverting the latter’s low-driven ball home from inside the six-yard box to open the scoring after just 16 minutes.

This is a fixture in which Mainoo might have easily been involved not too long ago, but Erik ten Hag has gambled on the 19-year-old, and it has paid off with the midfielder now a full England international.

Lankshear’s performances have certainly warranted a similar chance to prove himself, and Postecoglou must keep this in mind.

Ange Postecoglou could soon hand Will Lankshear his Tottenham debut

While upcoming matches against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool might not be the right time to hand Lankshear his Premier League debut, there could still be a chance for him to play before the season ends.

If Spurs find themselves in a situation with little to play for in the final few matches, Postecoglou must use that as an opportunity to hand Lankshear a chance to showcase what he can do ahead of next season.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been backed to rival Arsenal for Ollie Watkins’ signature.
