Charlie Eccleshare, the Tottenham correspondent for The Athletic, reports that Spurs will be seeking to sign a left winger or a center-forward during the upcoming January transfer window.

Tottenham’s Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, and Richarlison are Ange’s attacking options while Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon are sidelined for an extended period of time due to injuries.

Son was back playing on the left, a position he has held throughout his time at Spurs, even though he has started most of the season up front with Richarlison starting on the right and Johnson on the left.

This was a great move, as Son harassed Trippier throughout the game, winning two goals and an assist. A brace was scored by Richarlison, who has struggled since joining Spurs, in one of his best games as a Spurs player.

Ange benefited greatly from the change in strategy, and Son’s skill as an upfront or lefty was also demonstrated.

Spurs will greatly miss his absence in January due to the Asian Cup games, and they are reportedly looking to sign another attacker in January to cover for him.

In the upcoming January transfer window, Spurs are reportedly hoping to sign a center-forward or a left-sided attacker.

For The Athletic, he wrote as a reporter:

Does this mean that Richarlison through the middle and Son on the left is Spurs’ best option going forward? Maybe. However, it also demonstrated that Son is their best left winger and center-forward. For this reason, Tottenham is hoping to sign a player in January to fill one of those positions, as having two players on par with Son is a frightening prospect.
