Given De Gea’s guidance
Shay Given, a former custodian for Newcastle United, thinks the Magpies should give signing David de Gea significant consideration during the January transfer window.
Nick Pope, Newcastle’s first-choice keeper, had a shoulder injury earlier this month. Martin Dubravka is filling up for Pope in goal. Given believes any Premier League team should be contemplating a transfer for former Manchester United custodian David De Gea, who is available after leaving Old Trafford in the summer.
“I think any top club, even Chelsea, I’d be looking at De Gea,” Given stated.”De Gea will be scrutinised by Newcastle. All the clubs ought to be examining De Gea, in my opinion. In the Premier League last year, he recorded the most clean sheets.
“Many say, ‘Oh, he’s gone,’ after he made a few blunders the previous season, but at only 33, he’s still very young in goalkeeping terms. Any team would be interested in hiring him, in my opinion.”
Trippier wins the prize.
Despite his difficult past several weeks, England player Kieran Trippier, a defender for Newcastle United, has at least received some positive news.
Magpies’ right-backTrippier has won our very own Fans’ Footballer of the Year title for 2023, defeating competition from the best players in the Premier League. He came in first place in an open fan poll, beating out competitors like Erling Haaland.
After more than 10,000 football fans from the UK and abroad submitted their votes, Trippier emerged victorious, with the former Atletico Madrid player receiving more than 20% of the total vote.
Jude Bellingham and Haaland placed second and third, respectively, with Mohamed Salah—the winner of the previous two editions—and Mary Earps trailing in tow.
