After losing our last two League games, Leeds United is now even further behind the top two teams in the Championship. Joe Rodon has talked about catching both Ipswich Town and Leicester City.

Leeds now trails leaders Leicester by 13 points and is 10 points behind Ipswich in second place. We’ve performed admirably thus far—42 points from 22 league games—but Leicester and Ipswich are playing brilliantly.

Can we therefore catch them? Rodon, a defender for Leeds, seems to believe so. There are still 24 games to be played, with a 72-point victory possible. Leeds still has a chance to win by a whopping 114 points. Though unlikely, it is conceivable.

Over the weekend, Leicester defeated Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham, while Leeds drew with Coventry and Ipswich drew with Coventry, picking up no points in the process. Now, at midday on Saturday, Leeds plays Ipswich.

Rodon stated to Leeds Live that although there is a difference, Leeds can yet catch up to the two teams atop the Championship standings. A victory over Ipswich would be a positive beginning.

When questioned about Ipswich and Leicester sitting so much ahead of Leeds, Rodon responded, “It’s not a worry.” “This league has a lot of games, so all we can do is keep aiming for incredibly great performance.

Marking the board with three points. We have to play each game as it comes; we can’t plan too far ahead. All we can do is keep getting better every week, and perhaps that will be sufficient, Rodon continued.

Even though Rodon is positive that the top two can still be taken, one doubt is starting to creep into the corner of the room. Whether it is at Leeds or Tottenham, that is his long-term goal.

Not even he knows if he’ll sign on. According to reports, Tottenham is willing to let him go but would only accept a £20 million payment. Maybe by next summer, when he’s in the final year of his contract, that amount will go down.

As each game goes on and Leeds looks to advance, supporters will have to settle for watching Rodon for the time being. Leeds might be able to sign him permanently if they can guarantee a spot in the Premier League for the upcoming season.
