Ange Postecoglou’s top objective in January is strengthening the defense, and Spurs are supposedly close to making one signing.

One center back is supposedly close to joining Tottenham Hotspur in January, but another defense deal is apparently off.

Due to injuries to first-choice center backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has prioritized signings at the back.

Due to the absence of those two players, Postecoglou was compelled to start Eric Dier in the backfield after the Australian manager initially frozen out Ben Davies and Emerson Royal.

Radu Dragusin, a Romanian center back for Genoa, is supposedly on the verge of signing with Spurs ahead of the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano said on X (previously Twitter): “Tottenham are prepared to send first verbal bid for Radu Dragusin after talks opened with Genoa, as revealed last night.”

He continued, saying, “Dragusin already said yes.”

The Italian newspaper claims that although Genoa is holding out for €30 million, Spurs is eager to arrange a trade for €25 million. Discussions are still going on.

However, there is less good news about another January transfer target; it is now believed that a deal for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is improbable.

“Todibo deal could collapse soon – as timing with OFC Nice will be slow and Tottenham want new CB to join next week,” Romano stated.

Todibo, who previously had a brief time at Barcelona, has also been connected to a transfer to Manchester United.
