Despite Radu Dragusin’s agent throwing cold water on a deal, insiders have told Football Insider that Tottenham is confident they will sign Radu Dragusin this month following fresh negotiations.

Football Insider reported on December 31 that the Spurs are in regular contact with Dragusin’s team as they expedite the transfer’s completion.

Florin Manea, his representative, stated that his client had no intention of leaving Genoa in January.

The centre defender, who is eager to join the Premier League, is thought to have reached a personal agreement with Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Genoa is also open to letting the 21-year-old go on a permanent transfer because they want to get a significant cash infusion in January and are not interested in accepting a loan or a loan-to-buy arrangement.

Football Insider has also been informed by sources that the Serie A team has already turned down a straight loan offer from Spurs.

This season, the Romanian international has started in the middle of defence for Genoa in every game in all competitions.

This season, he has scored twice in Serie A: the game-winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona and the equaliser against Inter Milan.

The former Juventus player is well-known for his aggressiveness, good passing, and ability to carry the ball out of the back.

This season, Spurs have suffered numerous injuries to their starting defence, most notably the extended absences of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Early in January, Postecoglou needs defensive cover to protect his thin backline.

After defeating Bournemouth 3-1 on New Year’s Eve, Tottenham is now fifth in the Premier League standings. They will next play Burnley in the FA Cup on Friday, January 5.
