Tottenham Hotspur centre defender Clinton Morrison gave Destiny Udogie some props during Spurs’ FA Cup third-round match against Burnley on Friday night.

Speaking on Radio 5 Live, the BBC Sport analyst praised Pedro Porro, the eventual match winner, and the 21-year-old Spurs player for their contributions to the game.

At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ange Postecoglou’s team defeated the Clarets to guarantee their spot in the competition’s fourth round.

It must be acknowledged that neither Burnley nor Spurs gave a vintage performance. But a flash of genius in the 78th minute proved to be the difference between the Premier League pair.

After regaining possession of the ball within the Burnley half, Porro steadied himself with a touch before unleashing an incredible strike into the top-left corner.

“Crucial”

Udogie made an excellent showing that evening as well, but the Spaniard took centre stage for his spectacular victory.

The 20-year-old was quick to push forward and make good connections with Brennan Johnson. He also played a great defence.

Shortly after the second half began, Morrison stated on Radio 5 Live, via the BBC Sport website, “Tottenham’s full backs Udogie and Porro will be crucial in this second half.”

“It seems like everything good in the future passes through them (the full-backs).” Sometimes they switch to midfield and cause a lot of issues.

Tottenham’s acquisition of Destiny Udogie is a gold strike.

With Udogie, Tottenham truly struck gold. He is a mainstay in the Spurs starting lineup at just 21 years old, and he more than holds his own in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to observe how the Italian develops further. Under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance, he’s at Tottenham where he belongs and has the potential to be a big star.
